EGYPTIAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE ON IRRIGATION AND DRAINAGE

    
Egypt joined the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) in the year 1950 as a founder member country. The Egyptian National Committee on Irrigation and Drainage (ENCID) is a semi-governmental entity affiliated to the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation. The members of the National Committee are Senior Government Engineers, Professors of Engineering in universities, research institutes and research centers. The National Committee has 40 members including the Chairman and the Secretary. The Secretary is responsible for implementing the decisions of the National Committee.  So far, two IEC meetings (the 19th IEC meeting - Cairo, 1968, and the 47th IEC meeting - Cairo, 1996), one Congress (the 16th International Congress on Irrigation and Drainage - Cairo, 1996), one Afro-Asian Regional Conference (the 6th Afro-Asian Regional Conference - Cairo, 1987), and lately one African Regional Conference (First African Regional Conference on Drainage – Cairo, 2004) have been organized by the Egyptian National Committee.
